                                                                                  BOMBINO BCUC @ OFFEST 2024

The afro-psychedelic septet BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness) is a supergroup from Soweto, South Africa, who sees their music as hedonistic trance, but also as a weapon for political and spiritual liberation in line with previous generations’ struggle for justice. BCUC’s sound is both contemporary and original, confident and empowering. It’s packed with funky grooves and hip-hop sensibility, but also repetitive bass riffs, flutes, and galloping percussion, as an unwavering tribute to the hope and fighting spirit of previous generations. The group sings and chants loudly about the harsh realities faced by poor workers in South Africa, but at the same time, the homeland, as portrayed by BCUC, is not poor but rich in tradition, rituals, and faith. When BCUC performs live, they pull the audience right into the trance. And once you’ve seen a concert with BCUC, you won’t forget it. Since their debut album “Our Truth” in 2016, and the follow-up “The Healing” (2019), which features Fela Kuti’s son Femi Kuti, they have captured the audience’s attention at venues and festivals worldwide, including Glastonbury, Roskilde Festival, Afropunk Brooklyn, Dour, Worldwide, Womad, and many more. BCUC has turned the entire Roskilde Festival crowd into cheering fans three times, most recently in 2022. They are currently promoting “Millions of Us” (2023), which has received great reviews worldwide.
